South Texas Economic Development Center

South Texas Economic Development Center (STEDC) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) was formed and approved by the Texas A&M University System in 2014. The Center aims to catalyze economic progress in South Texas and beyond by providing data-driven analytics and technical assistance to leaders and other decision makers in the public and private sectors.

Our Mission

South Texas Economic Development Center is dedicated to addressing economic development issues in South Texas, particularly the Coastal Bend region, by (1) conducting relevant research, disseminating information via partnerships with local, state and federal agencies, and (2) evaluating alternative economic policy measures that impact the social and economic well-being of communities within the region and beyond.

Our Activities

We accomplish our goals through:

  • Conducting research specific to economic and community development in South Texas, and disseminating relevant data and analyses to community stakeholders, policymakers, and the general public
  • Promoting interdisciplinary research in business, natural sciences, and social sciences to address societal challenges
  • Educating the public on developments in the South Texas economy and local business trends
  • Collaborating with other entities on and off campus to achieve the common goals of addressing business and socioeconomic issues in the region
